Here's the first thing I ever knitted. It's so very ugly! It was supposed to be a rectangle but somehow it has managed to be shaped like my home state, Missouri. I've had a few people comment that I'm a meticulous knitter, i.e. slow. Now people can see what happens if I'm not careful.

This photo makes me laugh. The swatch/dishrag really does look like our home state. Aren't you concerned this indicates a subconscious desire to move back? [ha ha ha]
You could make a whole series of State Dishrags. Rhode Island could be for tiny juice glasses, Texas for really big messes, and California for thermoses.
And it was genius of you to put those large stitches right in the middle there to indicate our home town.
